Please Do Not Enter is proud to present NOIR, an exhibition and performance by Los Angeles-based visual artist Charlie Pierrick le Mindu at /THE LAB/ located on the ground floor of The NoMad Hotel, Los Angeles
Charlie Le Mindu's NOIR is a exhibition of raw sculptures; through literal extensions of his existing work with the human form, he explores the competing forces that drive our daily lives and rela- tionships.
Freedom and restraint, sensation and physicality, the forbidden and the licit: these seemingly opposing concepts encapsulate humanity's struggle to simultaneously blend in and stand out.
Le Mindu will present a series of performances opening night demonstrating his provocative visual imagination, in which the gendered body is enhanced or disabled by transparent veils, prosthetic masks, towering headpieces or illuminated plexiglass limbs. In covering his performers' bodies with silver glitter or body suits made of hair extensions, they are radically transfigured – liberating them from common human appearance.
In addition to the sculptural works on view, Le Mindu will produce a series of wearables and small furnishings similarly inspired by these visceral impulses.
